Why You Should Never Squeeze or Poke on Your Skin

April 16, 2018 | 0 comments

It’s hard to repair the damage that is done by mistreating your face.

As tempting as it is to poke or squeeze a blemish, don’t! It can cause an infection or scar your face. It doesn’t matter if it’s a whitehead, blackhead or general redness that is driving you crazy. The less you fuss with it, the better off your skin will be. You need to identify the source of the breakout and do what you can to treat it naturally.

Here are some of the things that happen when you squeeze or poke the skin on your face excessively.

You push bacteria deep into the skin.

Redness and inflammation occur because your body is trying to fight off invaders. You end up looking worse than you did with the zit. You should use a warm compress to soften up the skin and then use a sterile lancet to gently pierce the area to release the pus trapped within.

The damage you create causes ugly scars.

Piercing the skin with your nails damages it. Picked blemishes take longer to heal. If you don’t use something to dry them up, you’ll notice that they look red and angry longer. Hydrogen peroxide helps sterilize the area after you’ve lanced it.

You cause staph infections.

If you can’t keep your hands off your face, you can develop a staph infection in it which is painful, unsightly, and requires medical attention so it doesn’t worsen. You’ll be required to take an antibiotic to prevent the infection from spreading to other parts of your body.

Don’t squeeze or poke on your skin. Doing so can cause scarring because the skin is irritated, inflamed, and incapable of healing as quickly. Instead, make sure to treat the problem areas with the right products. You’ll eliminate the problem at its source and not cause it to look worse.
