10 Secrets for Younger-Looking Skin

We call them secrets, but these suggestions for achieving the younger looking skin you want are mostly common sense.

#1 Stay hydrated by drinking eight glasses of water a day.

#2 Eat healthy. Make sure your diet offers antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables as well as omega fatty acids—think flaxseed, nut butters, salmon.

#3 Wash and moisturize morning and night. (Toner? You can skip it if your skin is pH-balanced.)

#4 Get seven to eight hours of good sleep nightly and establish a regular bedtime. The sleep we get before ten is the best.

#5 Treat yourself to a silk pillowcase. Cotton or linen is too drying.

#6 De-stress. Exercise, meditation, yoga and conscious breathing all can keep you calm on the inside and radiant on the outside.

#7 Don’t smoke. Smoking adds years to skin, even if you roll your own tobacco or use e-cigarettes.

#8 Exfoliate regularly.

#9 Limit sweets. Sugar binds proteins, including the collagen and elastin in your skin, and degrades them.

#10 When you fly, be sure to moisturize, drink lots of water and wear an SPF. The air is notoriously drying. Plus, you’re that much closer to the sun on a plane.

Try any or all of these tips and help keep your skin looking younger and healthier.
